BCCSF Funday Tournament 2025 Rules and Regulations

Code of Conduct

  • All participants must show respect to referees, opponents, and tournament officials
  • Foul language, abusive behavior, or any form of violence will not be tolerated
  • Teams/players violating these principles may be immediately dismissed from the tournament

1. Age Groups and Divisions

Group U14 Competitive (2011-2012)

  • 4 teams
  • 7v7 format
  • Size 5 ball
  • Half field

Group U14 Recreational (2011-2012)

  • 4 teams
  • 7v7 format
  • Size 5 ball
  • Half field

Group U12 Competitive (2013-2014)

  • 4 teams
  • 8v8 format
  • Size 4 ball
  • Half field

Group U12 Recreational (2013-2014)

  • 4 teams
  • 8v8 format
  • Size 4 ball
  • Half field

Group U10 Competitive (2015-2016)

  • 4 teams
  • 7v7 format
  • Size 4 ball
  • Quarter field

Group U10 Recreational (2015-2016)

  • 4 teams
  • 7v7 format
  • Size 4 ball
  • Quarter field

Age Exceptions

Each team is allowed to have a maximum of 2 (two) players who are one year older than the age group limit. These players must wear colored armbands during all matches for easy identification.

2. Match Format

  • Match Duration: Two 20-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime break
  • Each team is guaranteed 3 games, with a possible 4th game (final)
  • Fields:
    • U14 groups (2011-2012) play on half fields
    • U12 groups (2013-2014) play on half fields
    • U10 groups (2015-2016) play on quarter fields
  • Offside rule is in effect for all age groups, using the final third of the playing area

3. Tournament Structure

  • Six separate competitions:
    • Group U14 Competitive (4 teams)
    • Group U14 Recreational (4 teams)
    • Group U12 Competitive (4 teams)
    • Group U12 Recreational (4 teams)
    • Group U10 Competitive (4 teams)
    • Group U10 Recreational (4 teams)
  • Tournament Format:
    • Round Robin: Each team plays against all other teams in their group
    • Top two teams from each group advance to the finals
  • All games will be played on June 29, 2025, at Minoru Park, Richmond

4. Game Progression

  • Round Robin Matches (9:00 – 14:25):
    • Each team plays three matches against all other teams in their group
    • Points are awarded: Win = 3 points, Draw = 1 point, Loss = 0 points
    • Top two teams from each group advance to the finals
  • Finals (14:30 – 16:05):
    • First place team plays against second place team in each group
    • U10 and some U14 finals: 14:30 – 15:15
    • U12 and remaining U14 finals: 15:20 – 16:05
  • Schedule Overview:
    • 9:00 – 12:15: First four rounds of round-robin matches
    • 12:15 – 12:45: Lunch break
    • 12:50 – 14:25: Final two rounds of round-robin matches
    • 14:30 – 16:05: Finals (staggered across two time slots)

5. Match Rules

  • Standard FIFA rules apply unless otherwise specified
  • Substitutions:
    • Unlimited substitutions allowed
    • Can only be made during stoppages in play
    • Must receive referee’s permission before entering
  • Team Colors:
    • For games where both teams have similar jersey colors, the team listed first on the schedule is considered the home team
    • The home team is responsible for changing the color of their jersey or wearing pinnies
  • Tied Games:
    • During round-robin matches, tied games remain as draws
    • In final matches, tied games will be decided by a penalty shootout (3 penalties per team)

6. Disciplinary Rules

  • Yellow Card: Player receives a warning
  • Two Yellow Cards: Player is ejected from current match
  • Red Card: Player is ejected from current match and suspended for the next match
  • All disciplinary decisions are final and cannot be appealed
  • The tournament committee reserves the right to eject any player, coach, or spectator who displays unsportsmanlike conduct

7. Additional Information

  • Teams must arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled game time
  • Each team must provide one suitable game ball
  • All players must wear shin guards and appropriate footwear
  • No jewelry or hard objects may be worn during play
  • Field Allocation:
    • Fields 1-3: Half fields for U14 and U12 groups
    • Fields 4-5: Quarter fields for U10 groups
  • Weather:
    • Games may be shortened or canceled due to severe weather conditions
    • The tournament director will make all decisions regarding weather-related issues
  • First Aid:
    • Basic first aid will be available at the tournament headquarters
    • Teams are encouraged to bring their own first aid supplies
